POEA HAS A NEW ADMINISTRATOR


The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration has a new administrator.

Rosalinda Dimapilis Baldoz, a former undersecretary of the Department of Labor and Employment, replaced Reynaldo A. Regalado. Baldoz was the second woman administrator to head POEA after Patricia Santo Tomas who is now the Secretary of Labor.

Regalado, who has been the POEA Administrator for more than 2 years  is returning to his previous post as Labor Attache in Tokyo, Japan.

Regalado formally handed the POEA banner to Baldoz last March 16, 2001.

During the turnover, Baldoz stressed the importance of POEA in the country's efforts to reduce unemployment and cited the efforts of the overseas Filipino workers to secure a better future for their families.

Baldoz said under her leadership, POEA will aim for excellence. "Through conscious and deliberate choice, POEA will set its mark on services and systems at par with international quality management standards," Baldoz added.

Baldoz is a Career Executive Service official with CES Rank II. She was commissioned as Reserve Officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Philippine Army after graduating with honors at the National Defense College of the Philippines with a master degree in National Security Administration in 1994.

Baldoz was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1974 after finishing the Degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1973.

Baldoz entered government service as a mediator-arbiter in 1975 at the Bureau of  Labor Relations and was promoted senior med-arbiter in 1980.

She transferred to the National Labor Relations Commission as labor arbiter in 1982 and was designated special technical assistant to the undersecretary of labor relations.

She was appointed deputy executive director of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board  in 1987 and subsequently executive director in 1997

Baldoz is a widow with a 23-year old son.
